Tips for Getting Bigger Muscles

Muscle Building Tips

These 6 muscle building tips can help you get bigger and stronger faster.

1. Sleep!!! If you do not get at least eight hours of sleep (more if you are sick or a teenager) at night your muscles will not have enough time to recover and as a result you will not build muscle as fast as possible.

2. Drink Lots of Water. You need at least eight eight-ounce glasses of water a day, but if you exercise in a warm climate or take creatine you need more like twelve glasses. Since I take creatine and workout in a warm climate I carry a water bottle with me everywhere I go.

3. Eat Lots of Protein. Muscle is made of protein so if you want to build muscle you need protein. Many people suggest at least one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. Many pro bodybuilders get over 500 grams of protein a day.

4. Eat 5-6 Times a Day. Eating only three times daily is not the best way to keep the amount of glucose, calories, and anabolic(muscle-building) hormones in your body stable. And if you want to get big you need to keep those levels stable. The best way is to eat 5-6 smaller, protein-rich meals a day.

5. Work Out INTENSELY. The best way to build muscle is intense weight lifting. Intensity has to do with the amount of work you complete in a given amount of time. It is the best way to keep the amount of anabolic hormones in your body high during workouts. You should try to keep your workouts under an hour and less than two minutes of rest between sets.

6. Use Compound Exercises. The exercises that are the most intense and build the most muscle the fastest are multi-joint, or compound exercises. You can use more weight and therefore recruit and then exhaust more muscle-fibers. You should do compound exercises like squats, benches, deadlifts, military presses, and rows first in your workout.
